About Us

Who We Are

Hillcrest Baptist Church is a Bible-believing congregation located in Hanover, Virginia. We exist to glorify God by being rooted in His Word and reaching our community with the love of Christ. Everything we do flows from our commitment to Scripture — the inspired and inerrant Word of God.

We believe that the faithful preaching of Scripture is God’s appointed means by which His church grows, flourishes in maturity, and brings glory to Christ. Our aim is to be a light in a dark world, serving Hanover and beyond with compassion and truth.

Our Mission

Pursue. Proclaim. Prepare is defined with the following:

Pursuing the Lost
We exist to pursue the lost with the gospel of grace. This is a divine mandate. Christ’s commission compels us to go and engage those still in darkness. Sharing the hope of the gospel is the joyful responsibility of every believer, entrusted with the message of reconciliation. The lost are spiritually dead, blind to the glory of God, and under His just wrath. Only the gospel can break through. Therefore, we go with urgency, compassion, and confidence in the power of God to save through the Word.
Matthew 28:18–20, Mark 16:15, Luke 24:46–47, John 20:21, Romans 10:14–17, 2 Corinthians 5:18–20

Proclaiming Christ Crucified
We proclaim Christ, the all-sufficient Savior, the crucified and risen Son of God. His substitutionary death has satisfied the justice of God, and His resurrection has secured eternal life for all who believe. This is the heartbeat of our preaching: Christ and Him crucified. We open the Scriptures to exalt the name of Jesus, declaring His finished work and calling sinners to repent and believe. Our confidence rests in the gospel, which is the power of God for salvation.
1 Corinthians 1:18–25, 1 Corinthians 2:2, Acts 4:12, Romans 3:21–26, Galatians 6:14, Colossians 1:28

Preparing the Saints for Ministry
We are committed to equipping the people of God for the work of ministry. Every member of Christ’s body is called to maturity, service, and fruitfulness. The local church is the training ground where disciples are formed through sound doctrine, meaningful relationships, and intentional shepherding. We prepare the saints with the living Word—teaching them to discern truth, resist error, and walk worthy of their calling. A prepared church is a powerful witness, displaying Christ through unity, holiness, and spiritual strength.
